Pricing - Classical Guitars

Classical guitars are typically priced between AUD $8,500 – $12,500 (including GST). This range serves as a guide and reflects the majority of instruments made in the workshop.

Pricing varies depending on the instrument, materials, and level of work involved, and may occasionally fall outside this range where a project is notably simpler or more complex.

Minor variations to established models, such as changes to string length or fingerboard width, do not affect the price. All instruments are made individually to order, with final pricing confirmed prior to commencement.

Historical Instruments

Historical instruments are undertaken on an individual basis and vary depending on the instrument, period, level of research required, materials, and complexity of construction.

Projects vary significantly in scope, but are generally comparable in level of work to, or greater than, a classical guitar commission.

Pricing is determined on a project basis and confirmed following discussion and agreement on the scope of the work. Because of this variation, pricing and timelines are not standardised.

Not all projects are suitable for the workshop, and work is taken on selectively.

Commissions, Wait Times & Completion

New work is taken on in a measured way, allowing each instrument the time and attention it requires.

Typical waiting time for a classical guitar is around 6–9 months, depending on the instrument and current workload. More complex projects, including historical instruments, may require longer timeframes.

Indicative completion periods are discussed at the outset and confirmed prior to commencement. Timeframes are provided in good faith, though exact completion dates can vary, as each instrument is made individually.

Process

Work usually begins with a conversation, either by email or in person, to discuss the instrument and whether the project is a good fit.

If the project proceeds, a written quotation is provided outlining the scope of work, pricing, and an indicative timeframe. A 20% deposit secures a place in the workshop schedule.

On completion, the remaining balance is invoiced prior to collection, and the instrument is prepared for handover.
